MATLAB
Before college, I had experienced a few programming languages such as JAVA and C++. However, it wasn't until I attended CU Denver's Bioengineering program that I started to use programming more often and on a higher level. The primary programming language that I've been using and the one I feel most comfortable with is MATLAB by MathWorks.
MATLAB is a programming language made for engineers and scientists. As such, it can be used for many things in industry and academia, such as deep learning / machine learning, signal processing , communications, image and video processing, control systems, testing and measurements, finance, and computational biology (MathWorks, 2023).

MATLAB has been an incredibly useful tool for my engineering classes, especially around topics that deal with data acquisition and bulk processing. I will most likely keep using the MATLAB programming language in the future due to my familiarity with it now, and because of its versatility around scientific and engineering topics.
Python
In my academic studies at the University of Colorado at Anschutz, I have learned of many scientific and engineering-centered fields. One such field is Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering. This field contains a lot of biological models that require complex ordinary differential equations and simulations to correctly analyze. This is where Python comes in. In general, python is used for more software and website-related jobs, but it being an open-source programming language, it can be used for a variety of problems, including complex simulations.
